First Marijuana Commercial to Air on American TV
Watch the ad here before it broadcasts later this month.

When Jay (and Silent Bob) rapped about smoking weed while loitering outside of a convenient store, it epitomized the drug dealer stereotype. It seems like Marijuana Doctors took inspiration from Kevin Smith for the first ever marijuana commercial to air on American TV. The groundbreaking, yet corny, ad is set to air on major networks in select states, but luckily we all have a sneak peak now.
Broadcast through Comcast, the country's largest cable provider, Marijuana Doctors are working on bettering the image of everyone's favorite "gateway" drug. The ad features a wife-beater clad dealer pushing sushi in an alley fully equipped with sashimi lining his coat. As the classic stereotype plays out, the voiceover chimes in, "You wouldn't buy your sushi from this guy, so why would you buy your marijuana from him?" Marijuana Doctors advertise their services as a safer and healthier means of purchasing the drug.
The History Channel, Comedy Central, and CNN are a few of the networks who've agreed to show the ad. The commercial's slated to air between 10 pm and 5 am — know your audience, amiright? It will be released this month in New Jersey, with Massachusetts and Chicago to follow. Oddly enough, Colorado, which recently legalized recreational use of marijuana, won't be televising the commercial as it's against the law to advertise the drug.
Marijuana Doctors is a company that touts around the health benefits of marijuana but, at the end of the day, they're airing a commercial for weed next to ads for the Slap Chopper and Girls Gone Wild DVDs. So let's call a spade a spade: it's all about getting stoned.
