Reader Feedback on "Hide and Seek"
Wow. Truth with a gauzy film of romanticism. Hmm. Think I''ll try it next time someone asks about my first time.

hmm .. well, I suppose I should have enjoyed that essay and all. Nice theme, lots of wordplay and glib phraseology ... I dunno ... essays for me have kind of turned a bit gelid ... ya know what I mean Vern? .. like grammer and spelling and punctuation.. I just can't be bothered anymore .. maybe I'm just old .. yeah that's it....I'm old .. I've arrived at a place where none of that is important anymore .. sex or stories well told ..

Thoroughly fucking frightening. Quite frankly. I'm the mother of a thirteen year old girl and I'm beginning to wish I could keep my eye on her every moment of the day to prevent adventures like these. What ever happened to growing up at a normal pace?

This is so cool. You might be as brilliant, if not more, than Herr Lynch himself. Thanks for the perspective.

Jesus. If I have to listen to one more chick writer talk about how much of a badass she was when she was younger I may just puke. While I'm glad you brought up the movie Blue Velvet, you didn't do it any justice whatsoever. Sure, this is a personal essay - why it's entitled hide and seek could be rationalized like anything, but doesn't necessarily follow. Why not give this narrative the same treatment Lynch might give his movies? "Like the surrealists who inspired him, Lynch is interested in a dream sense that defies logic but uncorks some deeper truth." - I don't think you succeeded in doing that.
