Sadly, it won't be called "Fun Dip."
If the thought of walking into a movie theater, ripping open a packet of powder, dumping it into a water bottle, and suddenly having a travel mojito in your possession is appealing to you, you wouldn't be alone. Called Palcohol, a form of powdered alcohol has just been approved by U.S. regulators. As simple and discreet as a packet of Emergen-C, Palcohol was created to ease those times when carrying around a handle of alcohol is simply not practical – and let's be honest, maybe not legal. "Take your Pal wherever you go," is the slogan of the new company, after all. In this case, everywhere you go could include concert venues, stadiums, and the empty bathroom stall at your high school prom.
So, what actually is Palcohol? Natural flavorings, Sucralose, and alcohol distilled into tiny powder form. Palcohol will come equipped with frat house-ready pre-mixed flavors like mojito, cosmopolitan, lemon drop, and margarita (dubbed "Powderita" on the website, ugh). If released, Palcohol could be a gamechanger for stale picnics, heavy beach coolers, and strict festivals.
Of course, when someone says magical alcohol Kool-Aid, you also immediately think, "this is going to be snorted by some idiot." But the Palcohol website assures us, "We have seen comments about goofballs wanting to snort it. Don't do it! It is not a responsible or smart way to use the product. To take precautions against this action, we've added volume to the powder so it would take more than a half of a cup of powder to get the equivalent of one drink up your nose."
While I can already picture a band of moms rallying against this new powdered menace, Mark Phillips, the creator of Palcohol, is confident the powder will be in liquor stores this fall. Teen nostrils, you have been warned.
