We use the word "outfit" loosely.
Everyone from Beyoncé and Jay Z to David and Victoria Beckham were out at a last night's Costume Institute Gala, the uber-posh fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute hosted by Vogue's HBIC, Anna Wintour. Each year, Ms. Wintour grants a theme for the Oscars of fashion, this year's being "Charles James Beyond Fashion," a tribute to 1940s and '50s traditional white tie and decorations.
As the queen of pop, Madonna has often takes the theme to new levels, like her pant-less dominatrix costume from last year's punk theme. But this year, the Material Girl was absent from the red carpet and took to her Instagram account to explain that she decided to skip out after her outfit of choice was vetoed by none other than Anna Wintour herself. And although the "costume," which was basically white duct tape and fully exposed breasts, looked like a rejected garment from the Miley Cyrus Bangerz tour, the 55 year-old singer proved she's still got it and still pushing the envelope. It was Instagram user Ianaa28 who brilliantly worded the world's thoughts in the photo's first comment – "boobies so #perfect."
