Forty percent of Americans don't believe in evolution
By Virginia SmithDecember 20th, 2010, 9:40 amComments (1)In spite of a decades-long publicity push from those kooky old scientists, the results of a new Gallup poll show that a full forty percent of Americans support the idea that "God created humans in present form within the last 10,000 years," while a less surprising fifty-two percent of Republicans share this view. Those who believe that "Humans evolved, God had no part in the process" still find themselves in the vast minority up against both creationists and supporters of intelligent design.
Even so, these forty percent of creationist responders actually mark the lowest level of response to this question in the history of the Gallup poll, down from a high point of forty-seven percent that occurred between 1993 and 1999. Hmm — seems like all those atheist billboard ads may have actually worked.

That's perfectly all right, because I don't believe in 40% of Americans.
