Dave Grohl stops a concert to personally kick out an "asshole"
By Ben ReiningaJuly 13th, 2011, 11:58 amComments (21)Listen up, motherfuckers. If you're going to a Foo Fighters concert, be advised: there's no motherfucking fighting. There's only motherfucking dancing. If you break this rule, Dave Grohl might just stop the show, give you a dressing down, and then throw you out.
Case in point: in this video from a recent Foo Fighters concert, Grohl apparently sees a guy starting a fight near the front of the crowd. Rather than relying on security, he stops the song and starts yelling at him — for a full minute. He calls him out directly, like a substitute teacher ("You, in the striped shirt, look at me!") and, also like a substitute teacher, says fuck a lot more than you think he should. Whose side you'll take can probably be precisely calculated based on how much younger than twenty-eight you are, and how many extraneous pieces of metal are affixed to your outfit.
You hear that kids? There's no fighting in rock 'n' roll.

"There's no fighting in rock 'n' roll." That would imply that Foo Fighters play rock 'n' roll.
Oh, don't be a douche... they are one of the last bastions of rock n roll in an era full of "rap rock" or whatever some of these assholes are playing.
rap rock died 10 years ago....but i see what you're saying
also i fucking hate it when assholes start fighting at shows...it's like you can be at a foo fighters show, passion pit show, or taylor swift show, as soon as some dumbass pushes his way to the very front, he gets surprised that he is getting little bumped and bruised and that no one is respecting his personal space, so instead of heading to the back of the crowd he starts swinging. advice to dickheads with little patience....STAY IN THE BACK!!!!
Rap Rock died 10 years ago? Then someone needs to bury Kid Rock. Oh, too late, he's already putrefying.
Nice work Dave, this needs to happen more. Eddie Vedder did something like this at a show in St. Louis where he tossed a guy who was texting during a performance.
Fugazi used to do this all the time.
Amen, Jeff. I've been to way too many concerts where a small group of a-holes seemed to be there for no other reason than to ruin the evening for everybody else. Never seen anybody get kicked out, but one band did repeatedly tell a group of people trying to have a shouting-conversation over the music to shut the fuck up.
Seriously, what's wrong with trying to talk to a friend during a show. Sometimes you have to, especially at festivals :L
This sounded much cooler on paper.
Then I heard the almost matronly tone of Dave Grohl's reproach, and I hit stop before I could stop myself.
Roy's response seemed much cooler on paper.
Then I read the almost matronly tone of Roy Lee Harwell's reproach, and I hit Submit before I could stop myself.
Poetic, Robert. Nice one!
There goes my hero.... No, literally, my hero has left.
Josh Homme is like an artist at doing this.
I love this. Too bad the Foo Fighters suck.
In the guy's defense, Dave Grohl is a pretty big douchebag himself.
Hmm, I've always happened upon interviews and clips of him coming off as surprisingly down-to-earth with a pretty great sense of humor, regardless of the adult rock his band produces now (and always has, imho).
dave g. Is a down to earth guy who actually respects his fans, some people cant deal with that.
I am 51 years old and love the Foo Fighters and have been to one of their concerts. What Dave did is on of the reasons to LOVE this man...and I gave my age so you can see what side of 28 I am on:)
And to think I was going to talk to seomone in person about this.
can we address assholes that crowd surf? I resent getting kicked in the face.
Now you say something
