Well, this can't be a good sign. Britney Spears recently joined Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, and Demi Lovato in what must be the easiest gig in the world, judging contestants on The X-Factor — seriously, they get what I can only imagine is a ton of money to watch people sing and then say, like, two things about it. That's not hard! Staying awake for all of that could be hard, I guess, but overall: it's easy. And maybe that's a good thing for Spears, who, even though she's still famous and putting out albums and making media experiences, is not even legally responsible for herself. (That is up to her fiance and father. Which is…decidedly weird.)
And yet it looks like Spears is already having trouble at this super cushy gig. Because TMZ is reporting that she's already stormed off the set on the first day of auditions:
Britney Spears walked off the set of X Factor moments ago … and according to several people in the audience, she was upset after a contestant butchered her song, "Hold It Against Me."
Britney did not come back immediately … and four contestants auditioned in front of the remaining judges … and an empty seat.
Sources at the show claimed that Spears wasn't upset by the performance, she just "needed a break," but…that is almost definitely a spin. To be quite honest, it's not a good sign for Spears, who also was only trusted to appear at the press event announcing her new position for a few minutes. This is doubly troubling because there's no reason to get upset over a bad performance of "Hold It Against Me," because there is no such thing as a good performance of "Hold It Against Me." (And I love some objectively terrible Britney Spears songs, so you can take my word on that.) Here's hoping she doesn't have a meltdown on camera, unless it's as brilliant as the time she shaved her head and attacked an SUV with an umbrella.
