"Parks & Recreation" adds Patricia Clarkson in brilliant casting move

Forget about Michael K. Williams and John Goodman joining Community. Forget about Eddie Izzard joining The Good Wife. The most exciting casting decision regarding the fall season is truly this: Patricia Clarkson has joined the cast of Parks & Recreation as Tammy 1, the feared and up-to-now unseen first ex-wife of Ron Swanson. (Tammy 2, his second ex-wife, was played by the actor's real-life wife Megan Mullally.) So, what kind of person strikes fear into the heart of a woman who does this:

We talked about pretty much every possible iteration of who she is and what her backstory is and all we knew is that we didn’t want to do the same thing we did with Tammy 2. Tammy 1 is her own specific brand of demon. I think we came up with backstory for her that’s both funny and illuminating and also answers all of the questions that you would have when seeing people’s reactions to her presence in the finale.

Okay, vague! But given what we know about Ron, she'll be a brunette and she'll hate Communists. Personally, I can't wait to see Clarkson — who's cracked me up in things like Easy A and SNL recently — step into the shoes of this character.
