President Obama inspired "Parks and Recreation"

I've always been of the mind that Parks and Recreation is fucking hilarious. And also, I've always liked President Obama. So imagine my excitement when Amy Poehler revealed that President Obama inspired Parks and Recreation!

Despite the fact that Leslie Knope clearly counts Hillary Clinton among her all-time top idols ever, it turns out it was Clinton's primary opponent that got Poehler jazzed:

"I started the show right after Obama was elected, when it was all, 'Yes we can!' and 'Let's do this!' There's certainly a lot of comedy to be had in the reality of how slow things [actually] move [in government], how little changes [and] how hard it is to change things. Like, even to get a park built in your town becomes your life's work."
