On Tuesday's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Bill Clinton's sax-playing on Arsenio became even more of a distant memory, as President Barack Obama made his Fallon debut a memorable one, participating in the recurring "Slow Jam the News" bit, as The Roots set the mood with their R&B vamp.

Obama taped the show at UNC-Chapel Hill as part of a three-state, three-university tour making the case for extending low (3.4%) interest rates on student loans. Mitt Romney's vanilla appearance on Jay Leno last month was made to look even sadder in retrospect, as the POTUS emerged from the drawn curtain to thunderous applause, announcing, "I'm President Barack Obama, and I, too, want to slow jam the news."

This time, though, we weren't treated to any Al Green-type crooning from the president (which was way overhyped anyway), only straight recitation. After Obama exhorted, "Now is not the time to make school more expensive for our young people," Fallon sweatily chimed in, saying:

"Awwww yeah. You should listen to the president. Or as I like to call him, the Preezy of the United Steezy. Things are heating up inside Congress' chambers, behind all those closed doors...The Pell Grant is a beautiful thing but, with college gettin' more expensive, is it enough by itself to satisfy all your collegiate needs? Aw, Pell no!"

The double entendres and wordplay continued, as the "Barack-ness monster" showed himself to be a good sport, with his eye on the all-important youth vote in November. Later, he would discuss the student-loan issue more in depth, reminisce about his own college days, and take questions from Twitter. If the election were to be decided by who was the better talk-show guest, there's no doubt that the guy who admits to watching Key & Peele on Comedy Central would win in a landslide.

really?

the man has been campaigning for three years, and for what? He has destroyed this country.

Oh, so true! Whenever I think about how, after Obama had all the registered Republican men in America sent to concentration (oh, excuse me, *internment*) camps, all those suburban moms had to flee to South America to work in coal mines while their children toil in sweatshops, it brings tears to my eyes each and every time.

Not your fault

It's not your fault, True Patriot. As a liberal you're simply less well informed, less intellectually consistent, less open-minded, less empathetic and less receptive to criticism than their fellow Americans who support the Republican Party.

This is not surprising to anyone who pays any attention at all. Hooksexup is a bastion of liberal congratulating themselves on being open-minded, receptive and inclusive when, in fact, they are none of the above. It brings tears to my eyes, sometimes from laughing so hard at people like Sandra Fluke and sometimes out of fear for our future like when I see Harry Reid talk about policy.

Speaking of Harry, isn't he a - psst - Mormon?

Wow. Way to take a wonderful Obama moment and turn it inside out with standard-issue GOP attacks, anger and cluelessness. (PS. We're still waiting for a wonderful Romney moment.)

@really? being passionate about politics is soooo last election cycle

How was this a "wonderful moment?" It's just a sitting politician on the campaign trail. If the last three years hasn't taught you that you can't trust anything this guy says, nothing will.

i <3 the Barackness Monster! will vote for him again, for sure.

What a completely useless idiot.
Well this is what you get when you put a community organizer into a real job.

Yeah! Damn right! Next time, I'm going to vote for someone with an Ivy League education. You know, like some constitutional law professor or something.

Apr 25 12 - 1:06pm
Hey Greg

You're right: failed businessmen have proven much better at this job.

Apr 25 12 - 11:12pm
Be nice, Greg

The Pew Research poll indicates that Republicans are better informed, more open-minded and more intellectually consistent, proving the term "libtard" is accurate.

Don't beat up on our "challenged" brothers.

We can all find ""studies" and "polls" that show our politics to advantage. The below studies show that conservatives have lower iqs and their brains are less evolved than liberals.

https://createperfection.hubpages.com/hub/University-Study-Shows-People-W...

https://voices.yahoo.com/studies-show-liberals-more-evolved-7183072.html?...

What do these studies and the Pew poll have in common? They don't mean much. So to post that here (or anywhere, really) means that you're either not very bright, or you're very disingenuous.

What I don't understand is why you conservative trolls come here to comment. I have zero interest in going to conservative sites and flame-throwing. You never say anything thought-provoking or smart, that would be different as it's at least interesting to debate in an intelligent, civilized manner.

Your lives must be extremely boring and empty that it's fun for you to come here and hurl your vitriol.

Pathetic.

Apr 27 12 - 11:36am
So sad

You don't see what these polls show? Of course you dont! You're intellectually inconsistent and less open-minded!

Apr 27 12 - 4:40pm
Rachel

Greg, you're just like your latest moniker, So sad. You can't even come up with a cogent response to the simplest valid point made in response to your vitriol so you just name call. What a deluded, sad person you must be to think that that somehow makes you intellectually superior.

Apr 27 12 - 10:02pm
True Patriot

Well said, Rachel. Except, if you look carefully, he never calls himself intellectually superior, just more intellectually consistent. I have no idea what that even means, but he seems to think it's very, very important, because he consistently uses that phrase and 'Pew Research poll" in practically every post.

May 01 12 - 10:11am
@Rachel

Sorry, Rachel, but I'm not Greg. If it makes you feel better to think I am, feel free. The currency here is ideas not personalities.

"Intellectually consistent" is well defined in the Pew Research poll description. Google it if you're so inclined. It would be good for you to read it since the shortcomings detailed in it are on display here every day. Recent examples, "calling out" FNC about a Sandra Fluke homosexuality reference when Hooksexup does it routinely when reporting on Marcus Bachmann. Also, Hooksexup outrage concerning body shaming but then it does the same with the young woman and the Confederate flag dress.

There's hope for you but you need to be aware of your shortcomings. Give it a shot!

Apr 25 12 - 10:21am
aw

that was great! I would have voted for him again anyway but the fact that he is cool and smooth (yeah, suck it, haters) makes doing it a second time even sweeter.

Apr 25 12 - 11:15pm
Smooth

Smooth and clueless - the recipe for a bright tomorrow!

The big difference is the last time you voted for the winner. This time, not so much.

It's not your fault, though, since the Pew Research poll indicates you're not very smart compared to Republicans.

Apr 27 12 - 3:49am
Nope

Read what LT said above. I'm going to bet just not smart over disingenuous.

This beats watching Romney backed by the Kingston Trio any day.

Apr 27 12 - 11:39am
Generational?

You've got to be kidding. Early Morning Rain is 1000x more entertaining than this.

No wonder Fallon's ratings are so low. 175000 viewers/night? He won't be around long.

Apr 27 12 - 12:34pm
Kel

@gen: Early Morning Rain was a Gordon Lightfoot song covered by Peter Paul & Mary and Ian & Sylvia among others, but not the Kingston Trio. Your facts are wrong, so your opinions are wrong.

May 01 12 - 10:14am
Ooops!

One of us is wrong! A whole youtube page of Kingston Trio doing Early Morning Rain!

Thanks for trying though, Kel! You're correct GL wrote (and performed) the song but, on balance, total egg-on-face fail!
