Subvert Four Loko bans with this bootleg recipe
By Ray RahmanNovember 16th, 2010, 7:02 pmComments (6)Watching HBO's Boardwalk Empire makes prohibition seem so cool that it almost makes me wish prohibition existed right now. But then I think, "Wait a minute, it kind of already does, provided that drinking Four Loko is your only way of ingesting alcohol!" I think weirdly!
And so does the guy who compiled a very thorough recipe for bootleg Four Loko. This man, known only as Tanner Ringerud, is a New Yorker not looking forward to his city's imminent Four Loko ban, so he decided to do something about it, like a hero would.
Here's his recipe for disaster awesomeness awesome disaster:
There are two accompanying videos below, the first containing instructions, and the second depicting a blind taste test that verifies the recipe's success. Here's your chance to be the Al Capone of your co-op!

Given that a can of Four Loko has a six-pack's worth of booze, I feel like this recipe is missing some grain alcohol or something.
4loko has the equivalent of two beers and 3 cups of coffee, son.
@PeterSmith According to the can, Four Loko contains approx 6 or 12% alcohol depending on state...assuming the worst case of 12% ABV and given a can volume of ~24oz, 2.88 of that is alcohol. That's equivalent to a shot and a half or so of pure grain alcohol. Beer generally contains 5-6% ABV, so at 12oz a bottle times six bottles... that's ~3.6oz alcohol or 1.8 shots.
St. Ides is ~8.4% ABV, which means that this drink has an approx. ABV of 4%, which is less than a beer and slightly more volume. About .5oz alcohol. To get this up to the requisite 12%, less monster should be used and instead replaced with a little over a shot (2.3oz) of Everclear or Devil Springs, or ~2.5 shots (~5oz) standard 80 proof vodka.
...this is why the world hates us.
I will miss four loko.
LOVE IT
