The easiest way into a hockey player's heart is to be a hockey player and understand their mind. If that's not going to happen, I would say be a good athlete, be sarcastic, confident and spontaneous, and buy them a drink!

I'd say the first six months is too soon. That early in a relationship, people are still pretty good at putting on fronts and not showing their true colors.
