Happy Chiptune Friday! The first week of summer has proven to be a very Mega Man-centric week here on 61FPS, and our weekly dance break is no exception:
There has long been a controversy amongst gamers over which of the original 6 Mega Man games was the best. Many argue 2. Others cry for 4. Personally, I've always been all about 3. The story of a robot boy and his robot dog encountering his long lost robot brother (both new additions in this game) and taking down a hijacked peace-keeping robot, MM3 also required the player to revisit four of the robot masters stages after their initial completion, facing even more dangerous obstacles and Doc Robots with the powers of the eight robot masters from Mega Man 2, essentially doubling the number of bosses over any other 8-bit Mega Man game. The first two games were definitely challenging and a great deal of fun, but Mega Man 3 is where everything really started to come together to craft an epic story of good versus evil – one that has connected with players nearly two decades later and now, with the announcement of Mega Man 9, continues to this day and into the future.
