A South Carolina middle school teacher is in custody today after sexually assaulting a drunk 15-year-old girl from an area high school in his apartment.
He picked the girl up via MySpace, took her to his place, got her drunk, and had his way with her. The facts of the case are simple and the man is almost certainly guilty. But there's one thing we don't understand...
According to the local news:
...Craft told her that he was only 16 and wanted to meet her [and] she invited Craft to her Bishopville home.
Craft drove to Bishopville on Friday, picked up the girl at her home and drove her to his apartment, Metts said. The girl told deputies that she arrived at Craft's apartment at about 6:30pm on Friday.
The girl told deputies that she played card games with Craft, drank alcohol and had sex with him throughout the night.
The next morning, the girl left Craft's place and called the police...
We're sorry, but there's a big ? mark hanging over this girl's tale: what happened when the girl realized that her MySpace dude wasn't the teenager that he claimed, but a 47-year-old middle school teacher from another town? Did Craft lie to the girl and say he was taking the young lady to meet her 16-year-old boy? Did she just realize what was really going on and didn't care? Was she kidnapped or threatened? Something about this is very, very off, to say the least. Not that we're saying this guy is in any way innocent, but this girl better get her story together for the cops or otherwise, this perv is going to be back on the web, trolling for young ladies of the easy prey variety...
