Lauren De Luca,
Photo Intern
laurend(at)hooksexup.com |
Lauren De Luca is an NYC native who recently returned home after a four-year stint in the icy throes of Rochester, New York, where she studied photography, refined her beer pong skills, and learned to embrace her inner geek. A fan of llamas, bad TV, and boycotting umbrellas, this girl enjoys spending her free time sipping Belgian beer on the LES and discussing simpler topics such as number theory. She currently lives in NoHo with a bipolar cat named Jäger. Her photos are at https://lbd0278.cias.rit.edu. |
Derrick Sanskrit,
Design Intern
derrick(at)hooksexup.com |
Derrick Sanskrit was born and raised on Long Island, New York. The Rick Rubin/Busta Rhymes part of Long Island, not the Martha Stewart/P. Diddy part. Despite his slovenly appearance and shaggy hair, Derrick claims to care about fashion and style. He is a self-professed geek in a variety of fields including typography, graphic design, comic books, music and cartoons. He has terrible posture and icy blue eyes. |
Julia Sirmons,
Editorial Intern
julia(at)hooksexup.com |
Julia Sirmons was born to hard-core Anglophile parents who raised her on a diet of BBC programming, far too many Laura Ashley dresses, and obscene amounts of old movies and Broadway musicals. She attended the University of Chicago, leaving that esteemed establishment with a degree in Film Studies and English, an improbably solid thesis on male masochism in films of the 1940s, and a love-hate relationship with hipsterdom. Upon graduation, she took a series of thankless jobs, most of which included spending a lot of time in law firms. She then worked for the website The Issue, and through a commitment to bad foosball and sleeping under desks on a mattress, became editor-in-chief. A self-professed psychotic cinephile, Julia writes about her quest to see 1040 films before the year 2012 at justwatch.typepad.com. |
Billy Gray,
Editorial Intern
billy(at)hooksexup.com |
Billy Gray was raised in the gin-soaked, Cheever-esque wilds of Westchester County. A movie buff, his Harvard thesis research entailed little more than video store late fees in its investigation of the 1980s John Hughes canon. He is a retired swimmer whose proudest achievement in the sport was prank calling Michael Phelps about a failed drug test. His current fitness regime includes climbing the stairs of his East Village walk-up. |
Anna Leuchtenberger,
Editorial Intern
anna(at)hooksexup.com |
Anna Leuchtenberger was found sleeping in a field almost a quarter-century ago, covered in lapis and lotus petals. As the cops arrived with their dogs and boots, an image of a pale, fragile city appeared above the clouds to the east, and was visible to all for eight minutes. Anna covered herself in book ink for eighteen years, then went to Oberlin College and covered herself with wild conversation, music, and semi-improvised theater. At one point, she led a stalwart band of 30 to write, produce, direct, and act a weekly hour-long noir radio show. After graduation, she took a GPS device, a tent, some musical instruments and her car, and was gone for three months. She arrived in New York with a degree in Creative Writing, and is learning her virtues and vices. |
