No big deal, just a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises
By Marty BeckermanMay 1st, 2012, 12:25 amComments (5)And you were sooooooo excited for The Avengers?
A new trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight follow-up just hit YouTube — a week before anyone expected it — and it looks even better than Battleship great. From Gotham's bridges crumbling to an unmasked/wounded Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) asking Bane (Tom Hardy) why he's still alive, get ready for some major bleakness.
The good news: Hardy's voice is far more understandable ("I'm Gotham's reckoning") than in the previous trailer, most likely due to studio pressure after his weird vocal effect caused international headlines. Also, given plenty of screen time, Anne Hathaway seems to make a better Catwoman than fanboys had feared. Check out that roundhouse kick at 1:56!
Expectations are stratospherically high for any superhero film to meet — without Heath Ledger in clown makeup, anyway — and Nolan just raised them higher. At least you won't need therapy after spending a couple lighthearted hours with Iron Man and Captain America.

Yes, that's apparently a real thing that people believe is in these superhero movies. Wow.
