Shockingly, televangelist Pat Robertson is in favor of marijuana legalization

Remember when Pat Robertson claimed that the ACLU, feminists, and gays deserved "a lot" of blame for the attacks on 9/11? Or when he claimed that the earthquake in Haiti was a result of the nation's pact with the Devil in the 1800s? My point is, the man is well known to be crazy conservative (and also just crazy crazy), which is why it's so surprising that he's just come out in favor of legalizing pot. This is what Robertson said in a recent episode of The 700 Club:
We're locking up people that have taken a couple puffs of marijuana and next thing you know they've got ten years with mandatory sentences... I'm not exactly for the use of drugs, don't get me wrong, but I just believe that criminalizing marijuana, criminalizing the possession of a few ounces of pot, that kinda thing it's just, it's costing us a fortune and it's ruining young people.
It's... it's so rational! And reasonable! And he keeps talking about saving money that could then be used for education and I don't know what to think anymore. Actually, that's not true: as you can see in the video below, which is the episode from which that quote came, he's still several different kinds of crazy. You know what they say — even a really awful and bigoted clock can be not awful twice a day. Or something.

@ Twolane umm, no, even those of us surrounded in B.C. bud don't sound THAT crazy! I think it's equal parts national television air time and unabashed groveling for the hard earned dollars of your countrymen that makes Mr. Robertson a little on the loopy side.
