In all my years of school, I had to read Jane Eyre four times. Maybe it's infected my soul, because I'm for some reason very excited by this trailer for the upcoming film adaptation starring Michael Fassbender, Mia Wasikowska, Dame Jude Dench, and Jamie Bell even though the last Jane Eyre movie came out less than fifteen years ago.

Of course, the appealing cast helps: I found Wasikowska charming in The Kids Are All Right, Fassbender is dreamy, and Dench is, of course, a total boss. (I'm neither here nor there on Bell, but since he's playing St. John "Professional Milquetoast" Rivers, that seems to be just fine.) So maybe it's not so superfluous:

Will the trailer's promise of a "bold new vision" hold water? Maybe, but judging from that last shot of Rochester, the new vision includes vampires. And no one wants that.

Hmm.... bold new vision? I would rather see a film adaptation of Jaspar Fforde's Eyre Affair.

VoR, it's like you can see into my soul. I may be excited for this but I would HAPPILY trade for an adaptation of that book.

I'll see it but my fave is the version with Ciaran Hinds and Samantha Morton that was on TV a few years ago.
