Calm down, everybody. Calm down, I said! All right, fine, you can get a little boisterous: the two highly collaborative, music mag-egenic stars Jack White and Danger Mouse have been working together on a new "secret project."
It's not called White Mouse.
The project, spearheaded by Mouse and joined by White and Norah Jones, will be called Rome. A fitting title, given that the work is apparently inspired by Mouse's "love of Italian soundtracks," particularly those of legendary composer Ennio Morricone.
According to Danger Mouse:
I played some of the music for Jack White when I was on tour shortly after doing the first session, just to show him what I was doing, because at the time everyone thought I was just a hip-hop guy, or whatever. He liked it, but at the time I wasn't even thinking of using him — you know, it's Jack White. But in the end, I thought, he's really into it — why not?
To ensure that the project is more than lark, the group recorded its material at "the Forum, a Roman studio/converted church used by" Morricone himself. So... yeah, it's basically going to have to be awesome. But alas, there are no release dates yet, which is why I was telling you to calm down in the first place.
