Disgraced evangelist Ted Haggard gets his own reality TV show
By Peter SmithJanuary 7th, 2011, 3:40 pmComments (3)Remember that evangelical preacher who raved endlessly about sexual sin and then got busted in an extremely compromising position? Okay, the list is long, but I'm thinking specifically of Ted Haggard, who in 2006 admitted to having sex with a male prostitute (and also using crystal meth, but I'm not sure he ever inveighed against drugs, so that one's not as... schadenfreudelicious). After a three-week rehab program, a supervising minister declared Haggard "totally heterosexual," which is certainly reassuring.
In any case, TLC has now filmed Haggard and his god-fearing brood (wife Gayle and five children) for a one-off reality special called Ted Haggard: Scandalous. In a statement, Haggard explained that he hoped the show would "inspire others to find their own path to overcome their struggles and embrace the power of acceptance." And who could be more familiar with the power of acceptance than Ted Haggard, right? Bottom line, the show airs on January 16, and if we all watch it and clap our hands, TLC may be so generous as to make it into a series. Something to look forward to. Play us out, Prince.

Schadenfreudelicious is my favorite new word in a long time!
I know, that made me laugh out loud, too!
