PTC deems MTV's Skins "most dangerous television show ever" before it even airs

Say what you will about the Parents Television Council — really, please do — but they do work quickly. Even though it doesn't premiere until next week, the PTC has already struck out at MTV's version of cult Channel 4 series Skins, calling it "the most dangerous television show for children that we have ever seen."

Not too surprisingly, the council didn't take kindly to MTV's campaign for the show, which includes a website asking teens to post stories of their own Skins-esque "trouble," presumably meaning anything to do with sex, drugs, Four Loko, or a potent combination of the three. "The marketing campaign itself makes light of lying to parents and participating in all manner of harmful, irresponsible, illegal, and adult-themed behavior," said a spokesman for the PTC. Insert your own "parents just don't understand" joke here.

i think josh schwartz had the right idea about this kind of stuff: the more the PTC hates on a program, the more people are gonna want to watch it. those gossip girl ads from a few years ago using quotes about how horrible the show was for teenagers made everyone even more eager to watch the show. i. am. so. excited. for. skins.

'Skins' wasn't a BBC series, it was made by UK channel, Channel 4.

I knew this would happen back when I heard the US was remaking the show. I'm certain it will pale in comparison to the original but I have a feeling it will be really popular anyway.

I knew they were making an American Skins, fine whatever, we all know there are no original ideas left for networks to use. However, I was shocked that they are using the exact same story lines. Wouldn't it have been less expensive to just buy rights to the original series and air it?

Do people still take the PTC seriously? I think they have proven time and time again that they are totally irrational in how they protest, and that they love to cheat on their taxes.

Isn't it great that back in the UK they couldn't give a shit about how "risky" skins was/is but here in the States it's all up-roar.

Oh the UK has a version of the PTC (forget what they call themselves now) and they got their knickers in a twist about "Skins" as they do about a lot of stuff.
