Tracy Morgan gets a lot of slack thanks to his hilarious job on 30 Rock and the obvious fact that he always acts crazy. So, if you have him as a guest on your talk show and he comes out without pants or with a falcon on his hand, it's not quite so shocking as if, say, Mark Ruffalo does it. But this week, Morgan's getting into trouble for a severely homophobic portion of a recent stand-up show in Nashville. And we're talking, like, some old-school homophobia here: Morgan said he would stab his son if he ever found out he was gay.

This is all coming to light after one man, Kevin Rogers, posted a message on Facebook entitled "Why I No Longer 'Like' Tracy Morgan — A Must Read" that describes the entire, uncomfortable experience:

He said that there is no way a woman could love and have sexual desire for another woman, that's just a woman pretending because she hates a fucking man. He took time to visit the bullshit of this bullying stuff and informed us that the gays needed to quit being pussies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying. He mentioned that gay was something kids learn from the media and programming...

I'm sure some people would say that this is a comedy routine and therefore shouldn't be taken seriously — though Rogers also mentioned in his note that Morgan's demeanor completely changed during this portion — but is all that stuff even, like... funny? Many comedians push the envelope in their routines, but this stuff isn't anything new, so it's all the more depressing because I expect Morgan to simply be a better comedian than that. What you read above is Rogers' account of the show of course; maybe Morgan was really killing it with his timing and intonation during this whole thing. But something tells me there's no comic timing good enough to make those statements hilarious.

Michael Richards uses the N word and the whole country freaks out and demands his head on a platter. Tracy Morgan threatens physical violence against gays and I bet nothing will happen.

Didn't see the rant and I won't comment on it directly until I do, but that last sentence really makes me wonder. I don't know. Truly masterful timing can make so many horrid things funny.

Only a matter of time. The biggest homophobes are also the biggest closet cases.

So it's all about the writer of this story? Your expectations are not particularly interesting since we don't know you...

I don't know why anyone would expect him to be a "better comedian than that" anyway. I have never found anything he's done funny, or even entertaining. But now that 30 Rock is gone, I guess he's gotta up his "game."
