During an interview at his Texas ranch that aired Friday on CBS This Morning, Motor City Madman Ted Nugent once again justifed his moniker, going off on CBS special correspondent Jeff Glor and an off-camera female producer. This was Nugent's first national TV interview since being investigated by the Secret Service for saying, at an NRA convention last month, that he would be "dead or in jail by this time next year" if Obama is re-elected.
The conservative gun enthusiast — who seems to be inching closer and closer to going postal — has made no secret of his disappointment after the Army canceled his opening gig at the Fort Knox annual summer concert following his controversial remarks. Apparently seething from being a casualty of "political correctness," Nugent exploded when Glor suggested that he was "not moderate." Working himself into a lather, Nugent exclaimed:
"Call me when you sit down across from someone who has more families with dying little boys and girls who get a call to take them on their last fishing trip in life! Call me when you meet someone who does that more than I do because that's really moderate! In fact, you know what that is? That's extreme! I'm an extremely loving, passionate man! And people who investigate me honestly — without the baggage of political correctness — ascertain the conclusion that I'm a damn nice guy! And if you can find a screening process more powerful than that, I'll suck your fucking dick!"
Then, turning to Glor's female producer, Nugent added, "Or fuck you! How's that sound?"
Glor reported that later, at his wife's urging, Nugent apologized to the female producer. He also called Glor the next day and rather dubiously blamed his "high level of energy" not on "cat scratch fever," but rather a kidney stone, for which, post-interview, he was rushed to the hospital to have removed. Whatever you think of of Nugent's music, you have to admit, it's a lot safer when he has a guitar in his hands as opposed to an automatic weapon.
