Beware of Sending Dirty Texts During A National Emergency
By James Brady RyanNovember 25th, 2009, 2:15 pmComments (8)Today, Wikileaks released over 500,000 government pager texts that were sent on the morning of 9/11. Obviously most of these are harrowing and rather sad, but there's one that's a bit out of place. See if you can spot it. (Hint - it's in the middle.)
Leak (though not the message) found via The Slatest, which also adds:
According to Wikileaks, the messages provide a "significant and completely objective record of the defining moment of our time." Wikileaks adds, "We hope that its entry into the historical record will lead to a more nuanced understanding of how this tragedy and its aftermath may have been prevented."...Wikileaks would not disclose the source of the leak but said it came from "an organisation which has been intercepting and archiving US national telecommunciations since prior to 9/11."
So they probably were not looking, in particular, for the raunchy evidence of inter-office romance. If nothing else, it's probably one of the happiest messages from the day. And the rest of the texts are captivating, if at times hard to read.
