I'm not going to lie, readers: I have a soft spot for Joan Rivers. This is probably because she (well, an intern pretending to be her, probably) once sent me a piñata in the shape of a bull filled with Hanukkah candy on Cinco de Mayo (this is 100% true). But in the lead up to the release of the much-anticipated Joan Rivers documentary, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, I've also come to appreciate her as someone who has clawed their way to the top, which is no easy feat.

So, with that in mind, enjoy this exclusive clip from the film:

I need to see this after watching this clip. I always considered her kind of annoying, but seeing the humanity makes her so much more likable.

There's a clip floating somewhere in Youtubeland of Husker Du performing on "The Joan Rivers" show. The ensuing interview was hilariously awkward.

Joan is a legend, and she always reinventing herself like Madonna! She should adopt a black child about now?

We need to see more mature women on the television and in movies, we need to see and hear
how they got to where they did.

We need to learn how each of
    them persevered what they had
to do, what choices were made
and how do they feel about them
    now.

Young girls and women need to
have heros need to be able to
    admire other women works.

We need to know that we can
    make it as well!!

Why do guys think they only need
    that stuff??

Sounds like she needs a new agent and a new publicist!
