Arcade Fire told Pitchfork today that they've been collaborating with Spike Jonze on a short "science-fiction B-movie companion piece for [new album The Suburbs]," shot recently in Austin with a largely high-school age cast and still apparently in the editing stages. Between this and their forthcoming Terry Gilliam-shot live concert (broadcasting this Thursday on YouTube), they're apparently on a quest to work with every whimsical fantasist in film. But then, if I had Arcade Fire's critical cache, I'd probably do the same.

This will probably be cool and strange.
