No More Dirty Dancing and Singing in Jamaica

Posted by Colleen Kane

A new law in Jamaica bans all sex and violence references on local radio and TV stations. Included in the ban are lyrics or videos showing graphic sex or glorifying violence.

This is a follow-up to a law passed earlier this month forbidding videos showing  "daggering." Now that "sexting" has been added to the popular lexicon, vocabularies can expand further with this definition of daggering.

Daggering, says the AP, is "a dance style popular among Jamaican youth that features pelvic grinding simulating sex." Oh, those crazy kids with their dirty dancings! In other news, some teenagers rebel by smoking and wearing leather jackets.
