A decade ago today, America was introduced to an Aussie named Heath Ledger in the updated remake of Shakespeare’s Taming Of The Shrew, titled 10 Things I Hate About You. This was also approximately the last time Ledger would be allowed to use his real accent in a mainstream film. Today, we celebrate 10 Things with our very own 5 things we loved about the movie.
5. Heath Ledger’s serenade to Kat on the soccer bleachers of their impossibly ginormous high school field.
4. Joseph Gordon-Levitt before he got all 500 Hundred Days of Summer-y.
3. 2000 was such an odd year for music: Still, this cover was awesome! [Letters to Cleo vs KSM issues duly noted – Ed.]
2. The corny poem Kat reads at the end of the movie. She’s supposed to be going to Sarah Lawrence? Doubtful. Though Julia Stiles was still slamming in this (and no other) films.
1. Larry Miller as the dad. Why isn’t he in more stuff?!
