Ever since posting about the Aeron desk chair, I’ve been feeling a bit…obsessed.
After all, I've been thinking of treating myself to a new desk chair for quite some time now, both to celebrate my successful leap into the full-time freelance life, and to deal with my attendant back pain.
So what's wrong with the chair I've been using?
Well, I originally rescued from my former employer’s freight elevator, where it awaited imminent scrap-heap destiny. After bringing it back to my cubicle and cradling it in my arms, I got permission from my office manager to take it home for my own personal use.
And so I lugged it home from NY to NJ — across Midtown, onto the bus, off the bus, into my car, and up the steps to my condo — piece by piece. And it was better than the kitchen chair I had been using.
But recently, it's been starting to fall apart.
When I mentioned the Aeron to my husband, he understandably balked at the $750-$1,200 price tag.
Which makes the $300 chair I just bought the other night seem like the savings of a lifetime!

Yes. Bask in the awesomeness.
It was a bitch getting up the stairs, but it cradles my lower back so sweetly, and provides me with endless (physical) support as I toil away here for hours upon hours.
Hubby's jealous.
