Small Italian village trying to ban miniskirts

In an effort to curb general sexiness, an Italian seaside village named Castellammare di Stabia is trying to pass a ban on "indecent" clothing. This includes miniskirts and any clothing that displays "excessive flesh." According to The Guardian, it's part of mayor Luigi Bobbio's initiative to "restore urban decorum and facilitate better civil coexistence" (which would be great if he was talking about building a new museum or something).

In all fairness, they're not exactly Catholic schoolmarm restrictions -- the rule is that skirts should not expose one's underwear. These newly-imposed bans are a result of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's handing down of power to the local level. According to the BBC, "In other places they have banned sandcastles, kissing in cars, feeding stray cats, wooden clogs and the use of lawn mowers at weekends." If Berlusconi knew what this new distribution of power means for his country's miniskirts, we imagine he'd stop.
