Mitt Romney thinks Obama is just like Marie Antoinette
By Virginia SmithDecember 30th, 2011, 5:15 pmComments (10)Known fancy boy Mitt Romney is testing out a questionable new campaign tactic, comparing President Obama to, uh, Marie Antoinette. During an interview yesterday, the absurdly wealthy candidate said, "When the president's characterization of our economy was, 'It could be worse,' it reminded me of Marie Antoinette: 'Let them eat cake.'" We're pretty sure Marie Antoinette never worked on a stimulus package, but ok.
Romney continued, "The president's policies have failed the American people, have led to 25 million people still being out of work. He didn't cause the recession, but he has made it deeper and has made the recovery more tepid and the pain last longer."
Well, it's one thing if you want to campaign on the premise that Obama's policies haven't been good for the economy. It's sort of another to assume that if everyone criticizes you for being rich and out of touch, you can just transfer the label to someone else without anyone noticing. Besides being a fundamentally silly argument - a working career politician isn't exactly comparable to a probably-misquoted aristocrat of yore - it also brings up the whole "pot calling the kettle black" thing. Do we really need a reason to talk about that $10,000 bet again?

"Well, it's one thing if you want to campaign on the fact that Obama's policies haven't been good for the economy."
Fixed that for you. You're welcome.
Right - unlike those wonderful Bush policies and that great, unmoving, uncaring, unwilling, useless pile of rubble called the Republican roadblock. Or dead end. Or failed theory. Or millionaire's club.
Amazing how those Republicans blocked so much even when they were in a huge minority for two years. Where is that Senate budget, btw? Harry Reid tells us that politics is all about compromise - of course he only means that Republicans should agree with him, certainly not the other way around!
A clearer view of Obama's econommic policies will show they've staved off another Depression. You'd think more Americans would be grateful for that. As far as Mitt seeing Marie Antoinette, maybe he was looking in the mirror. After all didn't he start making big money by firing workers and selling off assets? And that's how Mitt wants to run the country. Like a business. A bloodless screw you business.
Staved off a depression? Seriously? A "screw you business" like the ones Obama bailed out...
I think musclehead was being sarcastic. No one can seriously believe this administration did anything but worsen the current economic situation.
You've got to admire a man who would cast himself as Robespierre in his own life story. Not necessarily vote for him, but admire him nonetheless.
Yeah, I think he would cast himself as Axel von Fersen. Just sayin'.
I'd fuck him, but I wouldn't vote for him.
The best part of this is that Marie Antoinette never really said, "Let them eat Cake," I guess not only is Romney questionable when it comes to his economic stance (sell off assets and hope you can generate revenue after your assets are gone), but when it comes to History he failed as well.
Now you say something
