Between Herman Cain's bizarre campaign ads, Sim City-inspired tax policies, and the latest accusations of sexual harassment, he's currently one of The Daily Show's favorite subjects. On Monday, Jon Stewart made a joke about Cain's denial of sexual-abuse allegations, and Donald Trump was not amused. The golden-haired billionaire and friend of the Republican party described Stewart's joke as "a very, very racist rant."
Stewart responded, as you'd expect, by cueing up a sound byte of Trump, describing what he calls a "great relationship with the blacks." After an all-too brief Trump impression, Stewart segues into Ann Coulter's latest comment on how "our blacks are better than their blacks," referring to black conservatives and black liberals. This leads to a hilarious round-table discussion on "Democratic and Republican blacks" — specifically their quality, appearance and flavor (Herman Cain is like "biting down on a slice of jazz").
I understand that, between the weekly debates and the sideshow of candidates, the GOP's been the first to supply the comedy world with fodder, but this was just a desperate attempt by Trump to try and flip their all-too common charge of racism onto someone else. Republicans constantly cry foul on the media for painting them in a poor light, but then casually throw around phrases like "our blacks." It's like Donald Trump doesn't actually understand what racism is, and assumes he can just use the word whenever someone makes a joke involving a black guy, even if race has nothing to do with it.
Also, even Stewart points out that he did several offensive impressions that Trump could have chosen from… I'd have chosen Rick Perry trying to have sex with a piece of granite. Now that's offensive!
