I think you can venture a guess as to why this is the world's most expensive Scrabble board, but it's actually cheaper than you think (at least for now):

The board is a one-of-a-kind, Swarovski crystal encrusted board currently up for auction on eBay. The auction benefits the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and at least for now, is not that expensive (considering we've seen quarter of a million dollar jeans, for example).

Hopefully, the price will go up, so that the childrens can get more research:
