Ten songs to musically represent your repentance.
There are times in any couple's relationship when things get rocky. Whether it be about communication, money, sex, time or family and friends, there are a plethora of circumstances that can create conflict and friction in people’s romantic interactions.
When creating a mixtape that is going to convey a sense of regret after you have a gnarly fight, you have to be seriously discerning about the songs you choose. Not all the songs have to be ballads and super sappy, but it’s important that you choose tracks that are not too humorous or tongue-in-cheek. If your lover is already mad at you, it’s not a great idea to try and bring humor to a situation they still may be sour about.
Letting your partner know that you yearn for their forgiveness, or their presence if they’ve left you, is one key to an “I’m sorry" mixtape. You want them to not only know that you’re hurt about how things turned out, but that you want them to return to your life. If you continuously say you’re sorry without saying, “Hey, come back to me," they’ll get the message, but won’t be as moved to take action to communicate with you.
Also, when you send the mixtape, give a few days before you ask for a response. This mixtape isn't meant to be pushy or invasive; it’s meant to ease the pain of a prior intense confrontation.
Here are ten songs I’ve chosen as a way to musically represent your repentance. They'll let your scorned lover know that you really care, and that you want them to return to your life.
