As far as "protecting children" against imaginary threats, plaintiffs in this trial will want to see Todd Feild's new film "Little Children" (New Line Cinema), communicates well the panic that comes with "protecting kids."
Another important film is from Picture This/ThinkFilm and was made in Canada, "Whole New Thing," where a middle school student tests the self-discipline of a gay middle aged male English teacher--a sensitive topic now in view of the Foley scandal and Dateline series. That film is making the GLBT film festivals.
I suppose John Cameron Mitchell's film Shortbus (also in the GLBT circuit), if it were shown on a website (or if certain footage from it were shown) could fit what the government thinks it means by HTM--and even here we could have a debate about serious value, and to which minors -- that would have no logical conclusion.
