What is going on here?
No one wants to watch porn to see the good stuff censored out. But what if making depictions of sex a little more SFW by whiting out the participants actually makes the sexual stills even more intriguing? South African artist Von Brandis prowled through the black hole known as online amateur porn for some evocative images of men and women having sex, then reinterpreted the sexual imagery by forcing the viewer to extrapolate what exactly is going in each of the formerly naughty pictures.
The images remove the visual sexual acts, but send your mind into a frenzy to try and determine what's actually going on in the spaces where the ghostly silhouettes overlap. You get a lot of the same feelings as you do when watching porn – the room decor is somewhat lackluster — but you're still intrigued by arched backs, hard nipples, and suggestions of oral. The stimulation may be more mental than physical, but both are what we turn to porn for in the first place.
Here's a look at "Obscene Interiors" by Von Brandis.
