Discreet digital manipulation of landscapes.
Growing up in an extremely religious environment, London-based German photographer Kostis Fokas didn't have an outlet to explore his sexual fantasies. So, the artist is making up for lost time with his examination into his subconscious through thought-provoking photos.
Exploring the human body in full, while removing his participants' faces, Fokas proves the body can convey its own emotions. The nude bodies become a metaphor for dysfunctional situations we find ourselves in. He told Beautiful/Decay, "Unlike photography that seeks to reveal the feelings of the objects portrayed through the use of faces and expressions, I shift my focus on the complete freedom pertained to the image of a human body. Stripped from its clothes, I leave it fully exposed and completely surrendered."
Fokas doesn't mind if you misinterpret his witty use of the human body, suggesting each image can raise many questions with answers ultimately left to the viewer's own conclusions. Here is a look at some Kostis Fokas originals.
