Mad Men gets a creepy new poster

Like Mr. Don Draper himself, the advertising people for Mad Men have given us some intriguing posters over the last four seasons. There was the "staring out of an empty room with my only friend, the phone," the "slightly miffed while water floods my office," and now, with season five just weeks away, the "ogling a naked lady mannequin." Oh, you advertising rascals. What will you think of next?

The well-known falling-man poster debuted a month ago, but now Matthew Weiner and co. are offering up a new ad with a much more satisfactory amount of Jon Hamm. Only, he's creeping pretty hard on a nude female mannequin. And so is her robed male counterpart. Here's Weiner's cryptic — as per usual — explanation:

"This is a dreamlike image...[it is] a nonverbal representation of where my head is at and where the show will be. By the end of the season, I guarantee you'll know what it's about."

Linda Schupack, the executive vice president for marketing at AMC, added that the image shows "Don Draper's ongoing struggle to define who he is to himself and to those around him" and that it's meant to be "provocative" but not literal.

Weiner saying "by the end of the season, I guarantee you'll know what it's about" basically guarantees I will not know what this about until then, since I [spoiler alert] certainly didn't see the "Happy Christmas!" season three finale coming, or that whole Don proposing to the gap-toothed French secretary season four ender. (I'm sorry, Megan. That was rude of me. It's not your fault you're so gap-toothed.) But if this is about Don struggling to define himself, could it mean he's actually reflecting on his womanizing ways? Or just fantasizing about how to get more naked, faceless women?

Forget what I just said: this is obviously foreshadowing to the awkward finale scene when Don walks in on the mannequins attempting to spice up their sex life. Sorry, did I say mannequins? Meant Betty and Bland. Dammit. Henry.
