Watch: Bill O'Reilly racist rant makes Whoopi Goldberg storm off the set of her own show
By Ben ReiningaOctober 14th, 2010, 1:01 pmComments (16)Yesterday, Bill O'Reilly was a guest on The View. At least, he was until he pissed off his hosts so much that two of them — Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar — stormed off the set of their own show. O'Reilly was ranting about what he calls "The Ground-Zero Mosque" and what I, very advisedly, call the Muslim cultural center and recreational facility to be built in the Financial District of New York.
He seems pretty accustomed to holding forth, without interruption, in front of a sympathetic audience, but doesn't do very well with the back-and-forth of a debate — when faced with the hosts' opposition, he just started to talk louder and repeat himself, the tactic which prompted the women's exit. That, and anti-Muslim, fear-mongering "statistics" he was peddling.
I will admit that I'm not a frequent watcher of The View. Because I have a job, for starters, and because I'm not a liberal, over-educated, stay-at-home mom. But, every time I catch a clip of it, I find myself thinking, "You know, this really isn't so bad."

he sucks, but that walk off looked premeditated on their part.
at the end of the day, who gives a shit anyway.
I imagine they all gathered by the water cooler after and congratulated themselves on great tv that fans of both shows will be talking about. Bravo. Great publicity.
what absolute drivel. Joy Behar is a worthless host on both her shows.
Whoopi makes a valid point that Tim McVeigh was a Christian and bombed the Federal Building in OKC, but would she be so quick to back the Militia that McVeigh belonged to if they decided to put an office where that tragedy happened. I think not. She is merely disagreeing with a Republican because it's a liberal's job to disagree, not think rationally.
As much as I disagree with the asshole O'Reilly, its not RACIST to talk about muslims in this way. The word muslim does not describe a race, it describes the follower of a religion. This makes his comments bigoted not racist. If he'd said it was the Arabs that were killing Americans, that would be racist.
"Hold it, hold it: listen to me, because you'll learn." The condescension just drips off his tongue. They should have just booted his ass off the show at that point.
@CBRider... you're not making an apples to apples comparison. McVeigh was a Christian. If an unaffiliated Christian group wanted to build a church near the bombed federal building I don't think anyone would bat an eye.
Why did they even have him on the show in the first place? Everyone knows his side (such as it is) of the story. Why didn't they have someone with a more nuanced viewpoint? Or would that not have sold enough ad time?
You do understand that Islam isn't a race, don't you?
Great.
I was wondering if you could tell me how to vote now. Thanks bunches.
Okay, did anybody notice Whoopi's shoes, that LIT UP as she walked?
I mean, that's the real story here.
meow meow meow meow meow meow
There was NOTHING racist about what he said. Was it a typical aggressively narrow-focused statement designed to rile the emotions of the other side? Sure--and both parties are notoriously guilty of this. But it wasn't rascist in the slightest.
I fail to understand where the liberal perception that conservatives are racist started. It's simply not true...
"I fail to understand where the liberal perception that conservatives are racist started."
hahahahahahahaha
Interesting that Behar is standing up for Muslims but quite clearly bashes Christians on her show all the time. Brought up Catholic she see's no problem tarring the entire faith with her comments.
As for McVeigh being a Christian, he did not blow up the federal building in the name of being a Christian, while the terrorists considered what they did a jihad, a part of the Muslim faith. Big difference in motivation there and the attribution to faith to the deeds.
@MW: you must be laughing because you share that complete misconception?
umm - I guess you saw Laura Ingraham on O'Reilly's show.
Sorry bearman I don't watch FOX.
The idea of religious idealogy in the case of McVeigh is way off track, he was a nut, not a religious nut.
And Behar is well known for her anti-catholic/relgious views.
Were these points discussed on the Faux network?
