Cabins probably already have their own entry in Stuff White People Like, but now you can add Websites About Cabins to that list. A blog called Cabin Porn offers you just what it promises: photograph after photograph of awesome cabins.
The blog was created by some friends who really like the woods, one of whom is the co-founder of Vimeo, with the tagline "Inspiration for your quiet place somewhere." And there is something strangely arresting about the simple project. The user-submitted photos show cabins from around the world in all their humble glory, some with crooked roofs and rough corners and others with clean, modern lines. The point is they're cabins, not houses, so they stand alone in blue mountains and deep woods; not so much outposts of civilization as fugitives from it.
Simply looking is like a brief vacation for your brain; something to soothe the agitation caused by one too many frenetic cat .gifs. Even in vicarious form it's a reminder that quiet is still possible. So draw the shades, mull the cider and behold the simple joys of solitude and wood.
