Dressing Down

Declan, my Irish boyfriend, always wanted to make love in costume, which annoyed me since they were not easy costumes to procure; one of his fantasies involved dressing me in a priest's cassock. I had to get the cassock from an artist friend in Rathmines who lived next door to a bookie. The buzzer was broken, so each night I would stand outside his apartment and yell up at his window to be let in. When I left, cassock bunched under my arm like a black football, the bookie would come to his front door and wink at me.
