National topless day burns Austin, other cities alive

The summer of The Heat continued on Saturday, with many major American cities hitting mid-80-degree temps or significantly higher. Austin, with thermometers reading 102, the third annual National Go Topless Day went off without a hitch... or most other articles of clothing.
In case you don't know about this bizarre event (you'll see why I say "bizarre" -- and it's not because of the much-welcome free-spiritedness and nudity), check out Chicagoist's description of its own nude invasion:
While discussing the protest around the Chicagoist water cooler, Chicagoista Michele quipped, "Obviously a man's idea." Indeed, Michele, and not just any man, GoTopless.org was founded by Claude Vorilhon: sports car journalist, race car driver and magazine owner, better known as Rael, leader of the Raelian Movement
cultreligion.Raelism is a "UFO religion" that believes that life on Earth is the result of experiments by extraterrestrials. Rael founded the religion in 1974 after a supposed alien encounter of his own the year before. But the group is more widely known for its claim in 2002 that the company Rael founded, Clonaid, had produced a human clone, Eve. The event garnered tons of publicity, but interest waned when independent proof was never produced.
So, those are the people we can, well, thank for this fine, fine developing American tradition.

Well that was boring. Where's the molotov cocktails? Where's the rocks? Where's the screaming masses?
I'm more outraged over cigarettes being waved around carelessly than I am about bewbees hanging around behaving themselves. But I hope these folks have good health insurance, which these days, they probably don't. Skin cancer isn't pretty no matter where on the body it occurs.
Is it really a successful protest if cameras outnumber exposed boobs?
Skin cancer? When there are naked tits to behold, who gives a shit about the skin cancer downer. Furthermore, I'd like to see just a little more of that top picture, if you please.
People forget that up until the 1930's it was illegal for men to go shirtless on the beach in most parts of America. Yes, men could be arrested for not wearing a flannel or wool bathing shirt on the beach. Now women are asking for the same right to choose whether to wear something covering their chest or not. In a recent KTLA TV poll it showed 63.1% of people support the right of women to go topless on California beaches. It's about time for equality.
i think the guy with the camera was drifting off to his fav set of boobz a bit much... not hard to tell which one he enjoyed the most. Other than that these women are dumb if they dont see their epic fail... nice way to make yourselves eye/boob candy. lolololololll

While I agree that women should have *completely* equal rights, I'm not sure about the topless thing. I guess my view is, men's breasts aren't viewed in a sexual light (usually) when exposed. Women's breasts are. But if a woman wants to go topless, she should be allowed. This could help break down the barriers of sexual shame and body issues. However, if a woman chooses to go topless, don't whine and cry when a crowd of men ogles your tits. Your make a choice, you deal with the consequences. I ain't sayin' it's right, it's just the way it is.
