Okay, we know we've said it before, but we never really get tired of repeating ourselves: We love Kiefer Sutherland. We can't help it. We feel like his approach to acting is a bit like writing a letter with a permanent sharpie -- you know it's bleeding through the paper and, let's face it, it's a bit much for a simple note to your mom, but you JUST DON"T CARE because it feels so good. It's the same thing when Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer walks to the grocery store to buy donuts, and says, "Ma'am, is that the last box of glazed?" inevitably using the same raspy urgency that he might use to say, "Put your hands in the air or I'll blow your head off," and we don't even care that it's ridiculous because he's so badass.
So obviously, this weekend is big for us since it promises a four-hour long, two night premiere of season 7. We couldn't be more psyched, not only because, due to the writer's strike, 24's been off the air since May of 2007, but also because Tony Almeida finally returns to fill the man-sized hole he left in our hearts in season 5 (sidenote: sometime, just for fun, try deconstructing the subtleties of Carlos Bernard's facial expressions. Our favorites are "I'm-not-going-to-take-anymore-of-this-shit Tony," "smoldering Tony," "I-will-kick-your-ass Tony," and our favorite "moral dilema Tony").
We'll check back in with more 24 stuff after Sunday's half-premiere, but for now here's a little preview to get you going...
