People Magazine Names Julia Roberts Most Beautiful Person, Like It's 1999

People just released a Sneak Peek of their "World's Most Beautiful People" list, and the winner is - Julia Roberts. For the fourth time.

Have we gone back to 1999? With all due respect to the former-America's Sweetheart, why is she number one? Sure, Notting Hill is a good movie and Julia is pretty, but People could have been a bit more clever with their selection, not to mention contemporary. Zoe Saldana is on the list, but she could (and probably should) be number one. As could Michelle Williams or Modern Family's Sofia Vergara. Try something different, People. Your doctor's waiting room readers will still be there for you. Plus, in an issue that salutes "Stars without Makeup," it seems odd that they'd salute Roberts, who's undergone cosmetic surgery

In a creepy turn, sixteen-year-old Justin Bieber and seventeen-year-old Selena Gomez are on the list too. Next year, expect to see fourteen-year-old Chloë Grace Moretz, a.k.a. Hit Girl.

I think I speak for most men in saying I never found Julia Roberts the least bit attractive. I can't understand it; I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Spoiler Alert: People's 2011 announcement is a run-off between Sally Fields, Elizabeth Montgomery, and Doris Day.

Couldn't care less about this topic, but the reason you won't see a hispanic "most beautiful" in People mag is because they all appear in People En Español mag. Like it should be.

I never found her all that attractive either. People's lists have been lame for a while now anyway.

Also, 43 year old woman who was never that pretty to begin with? Outright insane. There are plenty of gorgeous 40+ women; Julia Roberts has never been gorgeous.

My guess is that surveys have shown PEOPLE editors that their audience is mainly women in their 40s and 50s, which explains this choice. I actually sort of like Julia, but this choice doesn't sure either imagination or originality.
