Chick-fil-A now more anti-gay than ever before
By Ray RahmanJanuary 4th, 2011, 4:15 pmComments (14)Ask any savvy New Yorker about where to get the city's best chicken sandwich, and they'll let you in on one of the town's hidden delights: NYU's 'secret' Chick-fil-A, the only one in the five boroughs. And when they do, hit them with this rejoinder: "Chick-fil-A is for bigots, so you are a bigot."
The notoriously Christian fast-food chain whose stores are woefully closed on Sundays is apparently sponsoring a series of conferences in Central Pennsylvania. According to change.org, The Art of Marriage is an event:
co-sponsored by Chick-fil-A and the Pennsylvania Family Institute, the leading anti-gay group in the Keystone State and a group that has worked hard to try and pass a constitutional amendment in Pennsylvania banning same-sex marriage. ... [The Art of Marriage is] intended to be a launching point for Pennsylvania to return to "the biblical definition of marriage."
This is a major bummer to anyone who loves Chick-fil-A's elegantly simple chicken sandwiches with taste buds.

Son of a... just eat the damn sandwich and be done with it. Let the owners spend their coin on what they will. How much of the retail price of your sandwich do you think goes to anything that you might have a problem with? Plus, keep in mind that even if you shift your business to some other poultry-pusher, there are a not-insignificant number of people that would condemn you simply for eating chicken. Too many people spend way too much time concerning themselves with the political opinions of others.
i can't give money to a company that will spend that money trying to make sure i can't marry.
homophobes and fast food: bad for your health.
Hopelessly naive, Cannabear.
Those of us who have lived south of the Mason-Dixon line have known about Chik-Fil-A and Cracker Barrel bigotry for a long time. Where y'all been??
Freedom of speech people you have it and so does chick-fi-la. Except they have some amazing chicken sandwiches ")
I am a heterophobe and never eat at a Chick-fil-A on Sundays.
@MyLiverHatesMe - OK, despite the somewhat imperative tone of my post, I'm not really asking anybody to buy anything. I simply doubt that a decision to boycott a chicken sandwich does anything substantive to advance anyone's rights, other than your right to feel good about yourself as you make a principled stand to deny yourself a tasty sammitch. Hopelessly naive, yes I am sure. But I do think that it's funny that Chick-Fil-A catches heat even for it's principled decision to deny itself business on Sundays, as though some believe that just because they don't go to church, someone else should have to make them a sandwich.
I'm with kindaawk.
Wait have you guys looked at the site. To me it looks as if its a marriage counseling program, not anit-gay bigotry. I'm open to being proved different but I think who ever posted this was barking up the wrong tree.
I wish they were open on Sunday because it seems like that's when I want a sandwich the most, but I understand that it's a day they want their employees to have off and that's cool. But sponsoring an Institute that's tight with James Dobson is just not OK with me. I can't in good conscience give them my money when I have the option to eat elsewhere.
Freedom of Speech applies to everyone, even if you don't agree with their opinion. I admire anyone or any company that stands up for what they believe, even if it is not popular.
