No pesky little endorsement deal with Dior will keep Natalie Portman from getting serious about John Galliano's terrible anti-Semitic rants, one of which led to an arrest and another of which was recorded and recently released to the internet. In fact, let's repost that one here:

1. Terrible. 2. With the effete British accent, haughty demeanor, and dramatic fur collar, Galliano is basically the living embodiment of how I picture Unity Midford in my head.

Dior has suspended the head designer, but it seems like it might be too late for the brand to come out unscathed, because Portman — who, you might recall, just weeks ago appeared in an ad for Dior perfume — is making no secret of her displeasure. She was supposed to wear a Dior dress to the Oscars but switched it out for a Rodarté, and now she released this statement about the incidents:

I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.

There's no official word on whether or not she severed her contract with the label, but her phrasing didn't sound very ambiguous. But really: go Natalie. I like a celebrity who isn't afraid to call out bullshit when she sees it, money be damned. Now if only she'd take back her support for Roman Polanski, I could really cheer her on.

You can't single out Natalie for that without taking the whole of Hollywood to task for supporting this convicted child rapist.

Trust me, I know. (Sadly.) But I figured since I was already on the subject of Natalie standing up for the side of reason, I'd throw a little reminder in there.

The ironic thing is that Mr. Galliano would have died in a concentration camp with a pink triangle on his chest living in his beloved Hitler's Germany.

That's a fairly estuary dialect our man John is drunkenly deploying there. I hear a more elevated New England drawl for Mitford but yeah... and why does the guy look like a villain from the Thunderbirds?

I didn't know she was Jewish.

Did they not fire him this morning on the news? I saw something about Galliano not working for Dior anymore. Natalie has always had a head on her shoulders and I'm happy to see she has used her brains and her charisma for the best.

Shame on Dior for not doing anything about this earlier; I'm sure they have known about Galliano's antisemitism for a while.

I kind of love Natalie Portman's cold, hard center right now.
