Darren Aronofsky hated filming Black Swan's sex scene
By Ray RahmanJanuary 30th, 2011, 4:32 pmComments (5)The Black Swan scene in which Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis do bad all by themselves is probably the internet's most favorite video ever, but it turns out that director Darren Aronofsky just hated it so much. Or at least that's what he said during a panel preceding the Directors Guild Awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter,
Then there was the subject of sex. Aronofsky found his film’s love scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis awkward to shoot — so much so that he raced through it in half a day, despite having blocked out two days for the scene.
David O. Russell didn't have a good time with his sex scene for The Fighter either. “It was a drag for me to be watching these hot people have sex,” he said, referring to some combination of Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, and Melissa Leo (I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know who boinks whom). Russell explained why he got bummed out: “I’m on the outside looking in." So David O. Russell doesn't like to watch, and Darren Aronofsky doesn't like lesbian scenes. Who are these people?

I can tell you, being a photographer myself, that filming/photographing these scenes is most definitely awkward because you aren't allowed to participate.
The reason Russell and Aronofsky hated directing these scenes is that they're control freaks, like all good directors, and one can't control sex.
Acting in them is fuckin hard! You have a bunch of crew standing around watching you have sex. It's awkwardly quite even when the cameras aren't rolling.
He hated filming the one part of Black Swan that wasn't visually revolting?
It makes sense. If these directors wanted to film people having sex, they would be making porn.
