It's official: Jennifer Love Hewitt is the worst actress of the last 25 years

Your suspicions are confirmed: Jennifer Love Hewitt is the worst actress of the last twenty-five years. This revelation arrives courtesy of a collaboration between Slate and Rotten Tomatoes; the former took the latter's massive collection of movie-review data and built software that analyzes the career trajectory of any actor or director you enter. Rotten Tomatoes divides films into "Rotten" (movies that received less than 60% critical approval) and "Fresh;" poor Hewitt has never starred in a "Fresh" film.
This data is pretty devastating, and will probably ensure that Jennifer Love Hewitt never acts again. No, actually, it probably won't. In fact, the worst director per Slate and RT was Dennis Dugan, who directed a number of shitty but enormously profitable Adam Sandler vehicles (including Big Daddy, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Grown Ups) and will soon darken our screens yet again. Critical approval obviously has little to do with success; this was never more clearly illustrated than in Hewitt's own Can't Hardly Wait. I remember watching that movie as a grumpy teenage film critic and thinking that if Ethan Embry couldn't figure out that he was wasting his time on the vapid Hewitt when the far more charismatic Lauren Ambrose languished before him, he didn't deserve a happy ending. He gets one anyway, while Ambrose ends up making out with Seth Green in a bathroom. Raw.

I'm sure there have been more actresses who have been in many worse movies than Jennifer Love Hewitt, she just has the worst percentage. So if a bad actress has even one fluke appearance in a fresh movie, even if it's a small part, that would put them ahead of JLH.
Also, Can't Hardly Wait is a fantastic movie, critics be damned. Things would never have worked out between Preston and Denise (It's established that they did date for a year in middle school). Preston and Amanda were meant for each other.

Too right. Sandra Bullock and January Jones are neck in neck for the title of Worst Actress of All Time. Why Bullock pulls in audiences is beyond me. She hasn't a shred of talent or even attractiveness to compensate for it. And I agree that Jones needs more experience at it, but she's off to a fantastic start with the new XMen.
These are the Worst Actresses We Know About, not the Worst Of All Time. There are plenty of people who are so much worse that we've rightfully never heard of them.

people are obviously missing the most important two aspects of jennifer love hewitt's appeal--her singing career and bubbly, girl-next-door charm. wait, no--i meant to say her sweet rack.
The methodology for this is hugely flawed. There's way more to what makes a movie good or bad than just the leading actress. If the directors, producers and writers all deliver shit, there's not much any actor can do. Maybe Hewitt isn't a very good actress (I haven't actually seen any of her movies), but she can't be held responsible for every negative aspect of any movie she's been in.
Aww, I love JLH -- she's funny and seems pretty real compared to most Hollywood actresses. I agree with the assessment that Kristen Stewart is a horrible actress. I can't find anything redeemable about that person.

I think JLH is a good actress, just not as slutty as a lot of the others. I thought she was great in the Garfield movies, hope they do more of those.
