James Cameron confirms two Avatar sequels
By Peter SmithOctober 27th, 2010, 1:00 pmComments (11)Never one for moderation, world-beating filmmaker James Cameron has just announced two Avatar sequels to be released around the holidays of 2013 and 2014 respectively. (The future!) This was probably a fait accompli as soon as Avatar grossed 2.7 billion dollars (making it the first movie to ever break 2 billion). Remember when the internet was all, "ahh, it's Dances With Smurfs" and Cameron was all, "doubt my money-making power and I will crush you under a giant pile of gold bricks"? We know how that panned out, even though creatively speaking, Avatar was no Aliens. Hubristic though he may be, Cameron apparently has a very good instinct for profit. Production on Avatar 2: The Quickening will begin next year. (Not actual title.)

Just to raise the ante, the sequels are being shot in 4D and 5D.
Only one will be made. By the time the second one flops, they will understand people moved on.
"Just to raise the ante, the sequels are being shot in 4D and 5D." Not to mention 32-Double-D
Is there going to be an electric bugaloo?
Interesting that Fox made a substantial donation to Cameron's environmental charity before the big announcement.
Bad idea. I agree, people would have moved on. He better get better writers if he wants these to make money, rather than lose kajillions
Pretty much every Cameron film ever has made more money than people expected, from The Terminator to Titanic. I wouldn't doubt him this time either. (Quality's a different story.)
I thought "Smurfs" was coming out in 2011
Proof that crap, like rust, never sleeps.
So the thundercats with USB device will have 2.0 and 3.0 versions?
Joseph Campbell is rolling his eyes in his grave. "White people AGAIN?" he thinks. Then his eyelids flutter back shut.
Now you say something
