Leonardo DiCaprio

Can you say gross point bank, boys and girls? From adolescent party posse to most bankable man on the planet, Leonardo DiCaprio tops Forbes' list of the highest-grossing actors of 2010. Based on the strength of Christopher Nolan's complex juggernaut, Inception, and Martin Scorsese's tense noir call-back, Shutter Island, DiCaprio's movies took in around $1.1 billion at the global box office this year. This is good news for the many charities that are the recipients of DiCaprio's well-established largesse.

In a dead heat for second place (since 2010 is still going on), are the startling Mia Wasikowska, who played Carroll's little-girl-come-to-life as Alice in Tim Burton's idiosyncratic Alice in Wonderland, and her Alice co-star, Johnny Depp, as a result of the just over $1 billion raked in by Burton's unique vision. The new-and-improved Robert Downey Jr. came in fourth at $808 million, thanks to no-doubter Iron Man 2, and the significantly less violent Due Date.

In fifth place is Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, whose Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 has already earned $780 million worldwide this year. Rounding out the top ten are Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Sam Worthington, Jaden Smith, and Jackie Chan. This is a very media-friendly list, but you have to wonder how destiny could have been disastrously altered if someone had had a bit part in both Avatar and Alice in Wonderland.
